Tyler Perry Sells Two Shows to BET's Streaming Service

The busy producer just got busier

Tyler Perry continues to dominate and expand his series rosters across BETs various platforms. He adds Bruh and Ruthless, both of which were picked up to series. Perry will write, direct and exec produce both shows. Tyler Perry Studios' Michelle Sneed is also attached to both as executive producer.

Bruh is a half hour comedy about a group of "bruhs" who unravel the stereotypes of African American men and manage to maintain their brother-like relationships while finding love and fulfilling careers.

The show has already found its main cast. Barry Brewer will play John Watts, Mahdi Cocci plays Tom Brooks, Phillip Mullings Jr. as Mike Alexander and Monti Washington has been cast as Bill Frazier. Rounding out the ladies' cast is Candice Renee as Regina and Alyssa Goss as Pamela.

Ruthless is an hourlong drama about a young woman who becomes entangled in a scandalous cult of powerful sex-crazed fanatics who she must now play along with until she can find a way to free herself and her young daughter.

This show too has already found its core cast. Melissa L. Williams (no stranger to the Tyler Perry crowd, having just appeared in "Tyler Perry's The Oval") stars as Ruth Truesdale. Matt Cedeno is The Highest, Lenny Thomas as Dikhan, Yvonne Senat Jones has been cast as Tally, Baadja-Lyne Odums will play Marva, Jaime Callica plays Brian, Nirine S. Brown is Lynn, Blue Kimble as Andrew, Stephanie Charles has been cast as Sarah, Herve Clermont will play Mack, Anthony Bless plays Malcolm Green and Bobbi Baker James is Cynthia.

Both will premiere on BET+ in 2020.

BET+ is a recently launched and joint collaboration between BET Networks and Tyler Perry Studios. The aim is to offer a diverse lineup of content, aimed to super-serve lovers of Black stories.

Tyler Perry is one of TV's most prolific and successful executives. Perry will produce 90 episodes of original series annually across BET and other Viacom platforms. These two new series will undoubtedly help him get there in 2020.

His latest two shows, The Oval and Sistas, recently launched on the BET network. The multi-hyphenate recently took to Twitter to announce the ratings successes of both of these shows.
