Tyler Perry and BET are continuing their fruitful business relationship.

The cable outlet and Perry have signed a new, multi-year content partnership that will have Perry create and produce hundreds more hours of programming for BET and its streaming service, BET+. The deal, which runs through 2028, extends and builds on a relationship that dates back to 2017, when Perry entered into a similar partnership with the conglomerate then known as Viacom (now Paramount Global).

Perry also expressed interest in buying a majority stake in BET when Paramount considered spinning it off last year. The company ultimately decided not to go forward with a sale, and Perry expressed disappointment with the bidding process.

That did not, however, prevent Perry and BET from continuing their partnership. The new deal includes renewals for BET series Sistas, The Oval, Assisted Living and House of Payne and BET+ shows Zatima, Ruthless, All the Queen’s Men and Bruh. BET+ will also be home to a new scripted series from Perry titled Route 187, and the pact also calls for Perry to develop more new programming for both outlets. (The prolific writer-director-producer also has a first-look TV deal with Netflix, signed in February, to go along with a film deal at the streamer, and a four-movie deal at Amazon.)

“Tyler Perry is simply without rival as a creator of content that powerfully resonates with audiences across genres, formats, and platforms, BET Media Group president and CEO Scott Mills said in a statement. “Our programming partnership with Tyler — undoubtably the largest deal ever in the industry with a Black creator — has been hugely successful, delivering the number one series across all TV among Black audiences and five of the top 10 series on cable among Black viewers. We are thrilled to extend our extraordinary relationship with Tyler and to continue to be the home of the largest and most diverse collection of new Tyler Perry content for years to come.”

Said Perry, “Scott Mills and his team at BET have been incredibly supportive throughout our time working together, and I’m excited to continue bringing these stories to the screen. I’m grateful to our loyal audiences for watching week after week and engaging these stories.”
