Two Rivers training studio focuses on more than just losing weight — and more business news in Streetwise

MANITOWOC - Who’s ready for spring?

This week’s Streetwise includes a little baseball, and a chance for you to nominate businesses that are knocking things out of the park.

Fitness training sets up in Two Rivers

Howard Gleason wants to do something meaningful with his retirement. He wants to help others get fit and live their healthiest lives, a goal that’s important in his own life.

Gleason opened Phenomenal Will Training, a training studio, at 1604 Washington St. in Two Rivers. He’s taking clients now with plans to open the studio full time when he retires from his job in probation and patrol.

He wants to help folks lose weight, stay flexible, gain strength, improve balance or recover from an injury.

He’ll work with clients individually or in groups of two or three doing resistance training.

Gleason said he struggled a bit with his weight years ago before getting serious about getting fit.

“It’s not just about your weight, it’s about enhancing your quality of life,” said Gleason, whose wife, Jamie, does social media for the studio.

He started to develop the idea about four or five years ago. He and his wife moved back to Two Rivers two years ago. His sister-in-law owns the building and runs GJ’s Salon N Spa in the upstairs level.

Cost is $35 per session or 10 sessions for $300. First responders and military veterans get a discount and pay $25 a session or 10 for $200.

Gleason said he wanted to give first responders and those in the military a discount since they may have physical issues from their jobs or suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

“This is what I love to do,” he said. “I’m very motivated and very passionate about fitness and health.”

PetSkull Brewing Company is serving up its GumbSkull Sea Salt and Lime Lager at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Paul Hoffman, who owns the Manitowoc brewery, announced his popular lager will be sold on tap for the 2023 season at the stadium.

He partnered two years ago with Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure to develop the popular lager. Gumby’s raises money to help local families affected by cancer. PetSkull donates 25 cents per pint of Gumbskull sold to the nonprofit, and that will include beer sold at the AmFam Field.

“What better beer to enjoy on a warm summer day watching baseball in Milwaukee?” Hoffman asked in his Facebook post.
