Two Cincinnati natives return to 'Jeopardy!' Second Chance competition. When, how to watch

Two Cincinnati natives will have the chance to redeem themselves on America's favorite quiz show during the Season 39 "Jeopardy!" Second Chance competition.

Xanni Brown, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, and Kelly Shannon-Henderson, a classics professor at the University of Cincinnati, have each graced the "Jeopardy!" stage before. But, the Queen City intellectuals have been invited back for one more shot at becoming "Jeopardy!" champions and getting one step closer to the show's 2024 Tournament of Champions.

Xanni Brown, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, first appeared on "Jeopardy!" in November 2022. She's been invited back to compete in the Second Chance competition this January.

The Second Chance competition consists of four shows airing Tuesday, Dec.19, to Monday, Jan. 15, with the winner of each show earning a $35,000 prize.

Brown, who grew up in Cincinnati, made her "Jeopardy!" debut in November 2022, documenting the news on her Twitter account. Several commentators said they hoped Brown would be back for the Second Chance competition.

Shannon-Henderson first took the "Jeopardy!" stage in September 2022, according to a release by UC.

“My biggest nightmare would be getting a Classics question wrong on national television,” she told the UC News. "A lot of science questions are secretly Greek and Latin questions because the vocabulary is derived from classical languages."

The university gave the professor well wishes ahead of her first "Jeopardy!" appearance.

"It was really cool, probably one of the coolest things I've ever done," Shannon-Henderson told The Enquirer last year. "Getting to be in a TV studio is not something that most classics professors experience and it was much more glamorous than my ordinary existence."

How does the 'Jeopardy!' Second Chance competition work?

The winner of each group, or week, will have a chance to earn a spot in the "Jeopardy!" 2024 Tournament of Champions and will go home with a $35,000 prize.
