These two Austin food trucks named top 25 vegan Mexican spots in US

A new list shows Austin is one of the best cities for Mexican food, even when it's made a bit differently.

VegNews placed two Austin spots, The Vegan Nom and Nissi Vegmex, in its list of the 25 best vegan Mexican restaurants in the U.S.

Both spots are food trucks, with Vegan Nom sitting at 2324 E Cesar Chavez St. and Nissi Vegmex located at 9012 Research Blvd.

VegNews noted that Vegan Nom leans more into Tex-Mex with a popular "late night menu and 'liquid gold' vegan queso."

Nissi Vegmex offers "soy-based vegan meats, from chicken to chicharron to carne asada," the publication said. The food truck also sells its vegan meat by the pound to take home.

Two other Texas restaurants, El Palote Panadería in Pleasant Grove and Nuno's Tacos in Dallas, also made the top 25 list.
