Twitter questions how CNN was the only outlet to get the footage of Roger Stone's arrest

When Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., early Friday morning, CNN was the only news outlet there to capture it. Some viewers, including political commentator Greta Van Susteren, think that the FBI “obviously tipped off CNN.” CNN producer David Shortell, who was on the scene, explained how he got the scoop on CNN’s New Day.

“It’s reporter’s instinct. The whole Russia team thought maybe something was happening. There was unusual grand jury activity in Washington, D.C., yesterday. The grand jury, Robert Mueller’s grand jury, typically meets on Fridays. Yesterday, a Thursday, there was grand jury activity,” Shortell said. “We also had some other signs that maybe something was going on this angle, the Roger Stone angle. So we showed up at his house this morning, we were the only ones there, and lo and behold the FBI agents did come and arrest him.”

Many on Twitter, including President Trump, don’t seem to be buying his reasoning.
