Twitter does not respect Donald Trump Jr.'s request for privacy after divorce announcement

No fake news out of Washington this time: Donald Trump Jr. and his wife of 12 years, Vanessa Trump, are indeed splitting up.

The couple released a joint statement on Thursday announcing their decision to divorce. “After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement said. “We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time.”

Though the Trumps asked for privacy, they got the exact opposite from social media. Twitter users wasted no time mocking the couple.

Many people, though, jumped to the Trumps’ defense, saying divorce was no joking matter.

However, much like President Trump, Donald Jr. always seems to have a tweet that comes back to haunt him. One Twitter user pointed out that he once joked about another famous divorce.

Oh, the irony.
