TVLine Readers’ 2024 Wish List for Chicago Fire, Grey’s Anatomy, Justified, SVU, Abbott Elementary, 24 and More

The TVLine readers were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of an 11th-hour Station 19 rescue danced in their heads.

More from TVLine

Earlier this month, we asked you to share what’s on your TV wish list for 2024 — and this year’s overwhelmingly popular request was for ABC to reconsider its recent Station 19 cancellation, which will end the Grey’s Anatomy offshoot after Season 7. If only we had the power to make that happen!

In the list below, though, we’ve highlighted 15 other small-screen wishes that stood out to us, including pleas related to The Rookie, Chicago Fire, NCIS: Hawai’i, Alert: Missing Persons Unit and even Grey’s proper. Plus, we’ve got a demand for the Law & Order universe that seems to pop up every year, like any good holiday tradition. (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)

Scroll through the list below to see what your fellow TVLine readers are wishing for in 2024, then drop a comment with your own hopes for the new year. Happy holidays!

“Same wish every year for the last 25 years. For the love of God, let SVU/OC’s Benson and Stabler kiss/get together!”

Sarah’s Wish:

“I want [The Rookie‘s] Tim and Lucy to actually sit down and have a meaningful conversation about her possible undercover career and how they would make it work, instead of just skirting around it.”

Ellie’s Wish:

“I wish for streaming providers to have a little more patience with their new shows. I know they’re not all winners, but shows can take more than six to eight episodes to hit their best. It’s as if they’re all chasing the next massive hit, and if a show doesn’t immediately deliver, it’s toast. 2024 should be the year of no premature cancellations (unless they’re truly awful!).”

Toolman’s Wish:

“High on my list is a total reboot of the Big Brother franchise. A return to the formats of the earlier seasons, things like a return of an unpredictable schedule, simpler game settings, and more games where they don’t have to be the best athlete to win. Have-Not competitions and other things to promote more individualized games and less/smaller alliances. Enforcement of existing ‘rules’ like not allowing houseguests to talk about their votes, nominations or production. No more scripted Diary Rooms or naming alliances.”

Julie’s Wish:

“For 2024, a list that’s coming out on Dec. 24, I wish for a 24 season that involves fixing the way they left the character of Jack Bauer. The idea that the hero we followed for eight seasons is rotting in a prison somewhere is unconscionable and they need to do something about it. And quickly. Kiefer Sutherland isn’t doing a series right now, it’s a great opportunity. But it’s so disappointing how the series has been left.”

Ingmar’s Wish:

“I’m hoping for a Casey/Brett marriage on Chicago Fire. It’ll be tough to lose Kara Killmer as she plays my favorite character on the show, but it’ll be easier to bear if she goes off into the sunset with Casey. They had so much built up over the years, and both characters deserve to go out on a happy note. So I hope Brett says yes and that we’ll see a marriage later this season. That way, all of the build-up wouldn’t have been for nothing.”

“For NCIS: Hawai’i to finally introduce us to Jesse Boone’s wife, Heather.”

Kristen’s Wish:

“My top TV wish for 2024 is for Eliza and William on Miss Scarlet and The Duke to finally get together! Fingers crossed we get to see them kiss this upcoming season.”

Nathan’s Wish:

Nathan’s Wish:
Nathan’s Wish:

“I wish to see more award show recognition for Lisa Ann Walter and Chris Perfetti of Abbott Elementary. As wonderful and award-nomination-deserving as the other four main cast members are, Lisa and Chris deserve just as much attention for the heart and humor they bring to the show.”

Donna’s Wish:

“Anything with Milo Ventimiglia in it.”

Staci’s Wish:

Staci’s Wish:

“Can we get rid of the dark, depressing cloud that follows Scott Caan’s relationships? [Hawaii Five-0‘s] Danno didn’t get a happy ending, but maybe [Alert: Missing Persons Unit‘s] Jason Grant doesn’t have to be destined to be alone for eternity.”

Paul’s Wish:

Paul’s Wish:
Paul’s Wish:

“After seeing them on screen together again in the season (series?) finale of Justified: City Primeval, I think there is more story to tell between Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder. Two great characters and two great actors, I would love to see more of them in Justified 2.0. A lump of coal goes to those who do not agree!”

Brian’s Wish:

Brian’s Wish:
Brian’s Wish:

“Singing reality shows get back to a format where we get more live shows and fewer pre-filmed battle/knockout rounds. Maybe this has to do with coaches’ availability, but it’s criminal that The Voice only gave us three weeks of live shows this season.”

Mark’s Wish:

Mark’s Wish:

“Let’s be honest: This would be a medical miracle if this wish came true. Katherine Heigl returning to Grey’s Anatomy even for an episode would be amazing. Imagine a standalone episode where Meredith goes to visit Alex and Izzie in the middle of nowhere.”

THE LAST OF US VIDEO GAME/POTENTIAL SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD!

“My only wish for 2024 is certainly hopeless, but I want The Last Of Us to take its time to get rid of that character and let us enjoy a little more of the perfect duo that Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal crafted so carefully over the first season. I’m not ready to endure what we all know will irremediably come yet.” (Editor’s note: Yeah, we know The Last of Us won’t come back until 2025 at earliest. It’s cool.)
