Justified vet Timothy Olyphant is staying put at FX: The actor has boarded Noah Hawley’s Alien series at the cabler, our sister site Deadline reports. He joins Sydney Chandler (Pistol), who will lead the cast.

Official plot and character details for the project are scarce, although FX chief John Landgraf has previously shared that the series is “set not too far into our future” and would be “the first Alien story to be set on Earth.”

Per Deadline, Olyphant is reportedly playing a synth mentor/trainer for Chandler’s Wendy, who is described as a meta-human hybrid with “the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult.”

Olyphant most recently starred in the revival Justified: City Primeval at FX, where he has also appeared in Season 4 of Hawley’s Fargo and the drama Damages. His other TV credits include Daisy Jones & the Six, Deadwood and Santa Clarita Diet.

Ready for some more recent newsy nuggets? Well

* Hallmark Media has ordered Celebrations With Lacey Chabert, an unscripted series (debuting late next year on Hallmark’s subscription streaming service) in which the Hallmark movie actress “surprises deserving kids, families and adults who are making a positive impact in their communities by throwing them the celebration of a lifetime.”

* Prime Video has ordered to series Motorheads, a coming-of-age drama starring Ryan Phillippe (Shooter), Nathalie Kelley (The Baker and the Beauty, Dynasty), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor) and Melissa Collazo (One of Us Is Lying). The show explores “first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your very first car,” per the official synopsis. “Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, Motorheads is the adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles. And while some characters will be navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school, others will be racing from a dark past.”
