TVLine Items: The Mole Sets Return Date, La Brea Star’s New NBC Gig and More

The Mole will begin to be unmasked on Friday, June 28, when Season 2 of the Netflix reboot premieres. The show will unspool over three weeks, with three installments dropping each Friday.

EW.com was first to break the date news, as well as the announcement that the competition series is getting a new host: Ari Shapiro of NPR’s All Things Considered.

* Josh McKenzie, who played Lucas on La Brea, has joined NBC’s upcoming series The Hunting Party, about a team of investigators who capture the most dangerous killers, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison. Per our sister site Variety, McKenzie will play “a former soldier in Iraq and a prison guard at a highly classified facility.”

* NBC’s Found has tapped Michael Cassidy (The O.C.) to recur during Season 2 as “a grief counselor with controversial ties to Gabi’s past, who shows up to help in more ways than one,” our sister site Deadline reports.

* Netflix has given a series order to The Waterfront, a drama written and executive produced by Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries). Inspired by true events, the show “dives into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”

* ZOMBIES: The Re-Animated Series will premiere Friday, June 28 at 8/7c on Disney Channel. Watch a trailer for the musical series, featuring characters from the movie franchise:
