TVLine Items: Jason Alexander Returns to TV, Eliza Dushku Goes Dark and More

Jason Alexander is getting the band back together! (No, not that band.)

AT&T Audience Network has ordered 10 episodes of Hit the Road, starring Seinfeld‘s Alexander — who also created the series, along with Peter Tilden and Dean Craig — as Ken Swallow, the head of a “chaotically dysfunctional” family band.

Described as the “greatest family band you’ve never heard of (yet!),” the Swallows “traverse the country in a cramped tour bus sacrificing privacy, comfort and dignity while in search of fame and fortune.”

Gee, what could possibly go wrong there?

* Eliza Dushku (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will star in The Black Company, a 10-episode adaptation of Glen Cook’s fantasy book series, which follows an elite group of mercenaries tasked with executing morally questionable tasks for high rollers in a lush, Lord of the Rings-style world, our sister site Deadline reports. Dushku will play a dark sorceress, eerily referred to as “The Lady.” IM Global Television is currently developing the project.

* Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson will star in The Way I Am, a Hulu comedy loosely based on her life, Deadline reports. Michaelson will executive-produce the project, along with writer/creator Liz Tigelaar (Casual) and Lynn Grossman.

* Hallmark Channel has renewed When Calls the Heart for a fifth season.

* The third season of Adult Swim’s Mike Tyson Mysteries will premiere Sunday, May 14 at 11:30/10:30c.
