TVLine Items: Alexander Skarsgård Is Murderbot, New Bluey Episodes and More

Alexander Skarsgård is just a confused android… in Apple TV+’s Murderbot.

The Big Little Lies alum will headline and executive-produce the aforementioned 10-episode sci-fi series from creators/directors Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Mozart in the Jungle).

Based on Martha Wells’ book series The Murderbot Diaries, the adaptation is described as an “action-packed” story about “a self-hacking security android (Skarsgård) who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable ‘clients.’ Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.”

* Ten new episodes of Bluey will be available Friday, Jan. 12 on Disney+ in the U.S. and worldwide.

* Trevor Noah will return as host of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, airing live Sunday, Feb. 4, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

* The new season of MasterChef Junior will premiere Monday, March 4 at 8 pm on Fox.

* All Rise vet Simone Missick will play the wife of David Oyelowo’s character in the Apple TV+ dramedy Government Cheese, our sister site Variety reports.

* Barbra Streisand will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award during the Screen Actors Guild Awards, streaming live on Netflix on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.

* Friday Night Vibes will return to TBS on the first Friday of every month, beginning Jan. 5 at 8 pm, and featuring new hosts: journalist Nina Parker and comedian Kevin Fredericks. Their first “double feature”: Black Panther and King Richard.
