“Character actor” used to be a niche thing, a pigeonhole for your acting résumé. But today, during the Golden Age of Peak TV (or whatever we’re calling it now), character actors are the talented, prolific performers who hold so many great series together. They’re the reason the Supporting and Guest Actor categories are now the toughest Emmy ballots to whittle down.
