Blindspot, 9 pm, Channel 5

Ross Kemp has been pretty busy putting his life on the line in a plethora of gritty documentaries over the past few years, but now he’s making a welcome return to the slightly safer world of acting as hard-nosed but inscrutable cop Tony Warden in this tense and twisty four-part thriller. The action follows wheelchair-user Hannah (talented rising star Beth Alsbury), who works in a CCTV operations centre and becomes convinced that she has spotted a murderer on screen.

However, when she tells Tony what she has seen, he is dismissive, but can determined Hannah crack the case as she lands herself in danger? Continues daily until Friday.

The Yorkshire Vet season 16: members of the veterinary practice posing together

First into Donaldson’s surgery today are sisters Jade and Caitlin with their pygmy goat Eugene. Eugene has a rare form of jaw cancer which, as a farm animal, would not normally be treated by a veterinary surgeon, but this goat is a much-loved therapy pet to Caitlin, who is autistic.

Will the chemo help give Eugene a longer life? Elsewhere, Julian’s friend ‘Exotic Joe’ has called him to castrate four alpacas at his petting zoo. Cue lots of testicle banter between Julian and Joe and in rude response spitting from the South American boys!

Cooking With The Stars season 3 contestants
Cooking With The Stars season 3 contestants

The cookery contest pairing up celebrities keen to improve their culinary skills with well-known Chef Mentors is back. Hosts Tom Allen and Emma Willis return to chivvy things along, but this time it’s personal as one of the hopefuls is Emma’s husband Matt Willis.

The Busted star is one of four (out of a total of eight) cooks in the kitchen tonight and he takes on Corrie’s Samia Longchambon in a Cooking Battle, but not before Joanna Page goes head-to-head with Peter Andre. The theme is the food of Italy, with two celebs facing the Cook Off in which they must prepare a dish they’ve never seen before to avoid elimination. Buon appetito!

The reality show is back and this time Liam Charles is joined by a new co-host, comedian and actor Ellie Taylor. Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden return to judge as the contestants are set a number of challenges, from secret tasks to a Showpiece that must be suspended in mid-air.

Family favourites such as bread and butter pudding and banoffee pie are recreated, while pavlova, peach melba and mille-feuille are reimagined. And, as always, you can expect some madcap designs. It’s enough to send you running to the nearest bakery.
