Best TV shows on TV tonight
No one was more shocked than us in the closing moments of Sanditon’s second season when heroine Charlotte (Rose Williams) turned her back on true love and accepted the pragmatic proposal of her childhood friend Ralph (Cai Brigden) from her home village. But, of course, that wasn’t the end of the story.
Charlotte and Ralph return to Sanditon in this third and final season as Charlotte’s friend Georgiana (Crystal Clarke) celebrates her 21st birthday and finally takes control of her inheritance - but Georgiana’s lavish party holds big shocks for both women as they realise their future happiness is far from guaranteed. Meanwhile, a new family’s arrival has everybody talking…

The Hidden World of Hospitality, 8 pm, BBC Two
In this week’s look at the hospitality industry, Tom Kerridge visits businesses bucking the (very necessary for most) trend of just trying to survive by planning a costly expansion. Josh and Holly Eggleton previously achieved Michelin-starred success with their gastropub The Pony & Trap, but are now planning a radical change to such an extent that Tom says they’ve ‘thrown away the hospitality textbook’.
He also meets the founders of Tiny Rebel brewery to find out how they took the risky move to open a tap room attached to the business on an industrial estate, and reveals his own expansion plans for The Hand & Flowers in Marlow, which involve the addition of luxury bedrooms.

FBI, 9 pm, Sky Witness
The FBI franchise explodes back onto our screens when the crime drama and its two spin-offs return this week. The action kicks off with season five of FBI, and special agent OA (Zeeko Zaki) works undercover to locate the whereabouts of a dangerous explosive device.
That’s followed by season two of FBI: International (10pm), which sees Eva-Jane Willis join the cast as Europol agent Meggan ‘Smitty’ Garretson, investigating the murder of a detective in Paris, while season four of FBI: Most Wanted (Friday, 9pm, Sky Witness) resumes in the wake of Ortiz (Miguel Gomez) leaving the task force to care for his ailing father.

Best box set on TV tonight
Heartstopper season 2, Netflix
In Heartstopper season 2, Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.

Best film on TV tonight
The Deer Hunter, 9:30 pm, BBC Four
Today is Robert De Niro’s 80th birthday, and the double Oscar winner shows no sign of slowing down, with latest Martin Scorsese collaboration Killers of the Flower Moon due in October. BBC4 celebrates by showing the Vietnam War movie in which De Niro plays a US steelworker trying to keep his moral code after the horrors of a PoW camp, with his game of Russian roulette a defining image of 1970s cinema. His terrifying turn in Scorsese’s 1991 remake of Cape Fear follows (12.25am), with 1995 thriller Heat tomorrow on BBC One (times vary).
