Colman Akande (Darly McCormack) in The Woman in the Wall

The revelation that ex-nun Aoife’s corpse is not behind the wall where Lorna (Ruth Wilson) appeared to have buried her is an epic twist, but there’s no time for Lorna to confront that as, following the devastating news that her baby daughter Agnes died in the convent, she is now determined to find out where the little girl was buried. But she soon makes some even more alarming discoveries that lead to a confrontation with sinister Sister Eileen. Jamie Cooks the Mediterranean, 8 pm, Channel 4

Jamie Cooks the Mediterranean.
Jamie Cooks the Mediterranean.

Jamie Oliver tries to extend summer with this deliciously moreish new series that sees him cooking around the Mediterranean. There’s a nice mix of old traditions meeting new innovations in tonight’s first episode in Greece, with Jamie salivating over the traditional dried plum dishes he finds on the sleepy island of Skopelos, while also delighting in the modern meze and Greek ceviche he tries in the bustling university town of Thessaloniki. As always, Jamie’s in his element rolling up his sleeves and cooking with the locals and his smoky aubergine flatbread and tzatziki chicken do a great job of helping to keep that summer vibe going just a little longer.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, 9 pm, BBC Two

Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse in their fishing gear for Gone Fishing season 6
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse in their fishing gear for Gone Fishing season 6

This week Bob and Paul are in Dumfries and Galloway, at what Paul refers to as ‘a secret lake.’ ‘It isn’t though, is it?’ Bob retorts, setting the tone for a feisty episode full of backchat, laughs and reflections on life, Bob and Paul style. Like when they both pull their ‘death face’, tongues lolling and mouths agape in their fisherman’s chairs. Well they’re not catching any pike, which is what they’re here for. Then it’s off to Spedlins Castle, where the walls are 9ft thick and a ghost is said to roam the building. Cue more morbid laughter and a night in front of a roaring fire before heading off to Kinmount House the next day, where Bob and Paul are convinced the pike will be queuing up for them.

The Day The Queen Died, 9 pm, Channel 5

Everyone has a memory of 8 September last year, whether it was the moment a flurry of concern rippled through the House of Commons as a note was passed around, or of members of the Royal Family arriving at Balmoral while reporters at the gates speculated about what it could all mean. Since Queen Elizabeth was
96, everyone had a good idea what it all meant, and yet it still came as a shock when it was announced that she had died. One year on, insiders, historians and journalists remember in detail the fateful day when ‘London Bridge’ – the secret plan drawn up for the late Queen’s death – was finally put into effect.
