With 2023 just days away, we’re taking stock of nearly 30 (and counting!) series that will wrap up for good in the new year, all of which are detailed in the list below.
Several long-running staples will say their farewells in 2023, including Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and The CW’s The Flash. Of course, given the Nexstar of it all, The CW will bid a few others adieu, too, Nancy Drew and Riverdale among them.
But newer fare is also represented in the list below, like Showtime’s Your Honor and Netflix’s Firefly Lane. (Speaking of Netflix, you might notice that Stranger Things is missing from our tally; with Season 5 currently on track for a 2024 release, we’ve left it off our 2023 list for now.)
Not every departing series has a premiere and/or finale date just yet, but we’ll be updating this list with new intel throughout the year, so be sure to bookmark it for the most up-to-date information. 61st Street
JAN. 5 UPDATE: As part of a cost-cutting measure, Season 2 of 61st Street — initially slated to air sometime in 2023 — has been scrapped, per Variety. All eight episodes had reportedly already been filmed when AMC yanked the second season.
MAY 12 UPDATE: 61st Street has officially been rescued by The CW! Season 2, though, won’t air on the network until 2024.
Archer
The long-running animated comedy ended with its 14th season; the series finale event Archer: Into the Cold aired Dec. 17.
Barry
Bill Hader’s Emmy-winning HBO comedy wrapped its run with Season 4, culminating with a May 28 series finale.
Billions
Showtime’s financial drama wrapped up with its seventh season; the series finale aired Oct. 29.
The Blacklist
NBC’s long-running crime drama concluded with Season 10; the series finale aired July 13.
Breeders
Season 4 was the last for FX’s parenthood comedy, wrapping with a Sept. 25 series finale.
Carnival Row
Prime Video’s fantasy series, starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, concluded with its second season. The series finale released March 17.
The Crown
Netflix split the sixth and final season of the Emmy-winning royal drama into two parts. Part 1 released on Nov. 16, and Part 2 followed on Dec. 14.
Doom Patrol
The DC Comics series ended with its fourth season, culminating in a Nov. 9 series finale.
Endeavour
It was announced in May 2022 that the Inspector Morse prequel would end with Season 9. Its Stateside run ultimately wrapped July 2 on PBS.
Fear the Walking Dead
After eight seasons, AMC’s zombie apocalypse drama came to an end with its Nov. 19 series finale.
Firefly Lane
Firefly Lane’s second and final season was split into two parts at Netflix: Nine episodes dropped on Dec. 2, 2022, and the final seven followed on April 27.
The Flash
One of several CW shows to wind down in 2023, The Flash ended its nine-season run with a May 24 series finale.
The Goldbergs
After 10 seasons, the long-running ABC comedy aired its final episode on May 3. (Read our post mortem with the show’s EPs and star Wendi McLendon-Covey.)
Happy Valley
More than five-and-a-half years after airing its sophomore finale, the British crime drama was renewed for a third and final season. The six new episodes finished airing across the pond on Feb. 5, and Stateside, they concluded on June 26.
The Hardy Boys
The Hulu series ended with its third season, which dropped in full on July 26.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
Disney+ revealed in June that its musical dramedy would conclude with Season 4. All eight episodes dropped on Aug. 9.
Human Resources
Netflix’s Big Mouth spinoff concluded with its second season; the final episodes dropped June 9.
Hunters
Season 2 of the Prime Video series doubled as its last. The eight-episode farewell run dropped Jan. 13.
Manifest
Manifest‘s final batch of 10 episodes dropped on Netflix on June 2. (One year shy of the show’s June 2, 2024 Death Date!)
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Prime Video’s Emmy-winning comedy series concluded with Season 5; the series finale dropped on May 26.
Mayans MC
Season 5 of FX’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff was its last. The series finale aired July 19.
A Million Little Things
After five seasons, the ABC drama concluded with its May 3 series finale. (Read our Q&A with the EPs and co-star James Roday Rodriguez.)
Nancy Drew
The CW’s mystery series ended with Season 4; the series finale aired Aug. 23.
NCIS: Los Angeles
The long-running CBS procedural starring Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J wrapped up its 14-season run with a May 21 series finale. (Read our post mortem Q&A with showrunner R. Scott Gemmill.)
Never Have I Ever
Netflix’s coming-of-age comedy concluded with Season 4, which released in full on June 8.
New Amsterdam
After five seasons, NBC’s medical drama has scrubbed out: The series finale aired Jan. 17.
Physical
Apple TV+’s Rose Byrne-led dark comedy ended with Season 3, culminating in a Sept. 27 series finale.
Reservation Dogs
The third season of FX’s acclaimed dramedy was also its final one. The series finale dropped on Sept. 27.
Riverdale
Another longtime staple of The CW, Riverdale ended with its seventh season. The series finale aired Aug. 23.
Sanditon
The British drama — which was initially cancelled after Season 1, then brought back after a fan outcry — ended for good with Season 3. The series finale aired April 23.
Servant
Apple TV+’s psychological thriller wrapped up with its March 17 series finale.
Sex Education
Netflix’s coming-of-age dramedy ended with Season 4, which dropped in full on Sept. 21.
Snowfall
The FX crime drama aired its very last episode on April 19.
Snowpiercer
JAN. 13 UPDATE: Although Snowpiercer‘s fourth and final season has already been filmed, TNT has confirmed that it will not be airing the post-apocalyptic drama’s final batch of episodes. Efforts are being made to find Season 4 a new home.
Star Trek: Picard
The Paramount+ series concluded with its third season; the series finale dropped on April 20.
Succession
Season 4 of HBO’s acclaimed drama was ultimately its last, concluding with a May 28 series finale.
Titans
The DC Comics series came to an end with its fourth season; the series finale dropped on May 11.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
Prime Video’s action drama ended with its fourth season; the series finale dropped July 14.
Workin’ Moms
The Canadian comedy dropped its seventh and final season Stateside (via Netflix) on April 26.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga
Hulu’s chronicling of the titular hip-hop group’s career wrapped its run on April 5.
Your Honor
Though never officially confirmed by Showtime, Season 2 of the legal drama was its last, according to star Bryan Cranston. The (alleged!) series finale aired March 19.
