NBC and Dolly Parton continue to make beautiful music together. Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love topped Wednesday night among total viewers with an average 11.4 million tuning in to the two-hour telepic.
Though the country singer's specials still aren't skewing particularly young, ranking No. 4 for the night with a 1.8 rating in the key demo, they do draw a formidable crowd. Packaged with Christmas at Rockefeller, it helped NBC earn most watched status of the night and its highest-rated Wednesday of the 2016-17 season.
But the demo is king, and so was Empire - albeit humbled. The drama, which came in more than 3 million viewers south of Dolly Parton, was down near a series low in live-plus-same showings with its 2.8 rating among adults 18-49. With a steady 1.6 rating for Lethal Weapon, Fox led among the key demo for the night.
Also out-rating Circle of Love were ABC's Modern Family (2.2 adults) and CBS' Survivor (1.9 adults). ABC comedy Black-ish tied the movie's 1.8 rating among adults 18-49.
