In today’s TV news roundup, Sam Worthington joins the cast of Discovery Channel’s “Manifesto,” Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and Have Nots” returns to OWN for a fourth season, “Mickey and the Roadster Racers” sets a premiere date on Disney Chanel and Disney Junior, and more.

CASTING

Sam Worthington (“Hacksaw Ridge”) is the latest actor to be cast in Discovery Channel‘s upcoming scripted series “Manifesto,” based on the FBI’s investigation and subsequent capture of domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski, also known as the “Unabomber.” The series is executive produced by Kevin Spacey, Dana Brunetti, Troy Searer, and Greg Yaitanes for Spacey and Brunetti’s Trigger Street.

PREMIERES

Disney Junior’s animated series “Mickey and the Roadster Racers” will premiere Sunday, Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. ET on both Disney Channel and Disney Junior. Two more episodes will debut the following day, Monday, Jan. 16 on Disney Channel. Guest stars for the series include Jay Leno, Patton Oswalt, Tim Gunn, chef Gordon Ramsey, “Today Show” host Hoda Kotb and more. Watch the trailer below or click here.

DATES

Tyler Perry‘s hit drama series “The Haves and the Have Nots” returns to OWN for its fourth season Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. Crystal R. Fox, Tyler Lepley and Tika Sumpter all return for the upcoming season. The series is created, written, directed and executive produced by Perry.

CBS will air races from the 25th Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. The charity event, which begins Friday in Deer Valley, Utah, pairs U.S. Olympic skiers with celebrities such as Larry David, Pierce Brosnan, Cheryl Hines, JB Smoove, and Marcia Gay Harden. Presented by JUMA Entertainment and executive produced by Bob Horowitz, the Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest raises money for Waterkeeper Alliance.

SPECIALS

Singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert will headline CBS’ annual “A Home For The Holidays” special on Friday, Dec. 23 at 8 p.m. The country music star will perform hits from her latest studio album “The Weight Of These Wings,” and will feature uplifting and inspirational stories from families across the country. Also set to perform are Alessia Cara, Rachel Platten and more.
