Superheroes Decoded: American Rebels: Monday, May 1 at 9 p.m. on History
The second installment of History’s two-part deep dive into the back pages of comic book history focuses on the introduction of authority-flouting costumed avengers like Luke Cage and the X-Men, and how they affected both popular — and superhero — culture.

Victorian Slum House: Tuesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. on PBS
If you think surviving on a desert island is tough, try the London slums circa 1860. That history literally comes alive for a gaggle of present-day Brits, who sacrifice modern conveniences like cellphones and toilet paper to relive the days of chamber pots and cholera outbreaks.

MasterChef Junior: Thursday, May 4 at 8 p.m. on Fox
It’s time to wash the pans, it’s time to light the stoves — it’s time for the Muppets to drop by the MasterChef Kitchen on MasterChef Junior! Miss Piggy and the Swedish Chef judge the remaining Top Six kiddie culinary geniuses as they create entrees for a VIP-only crowd.

Sense8: Friday, May 5 on Netflix
Here’s to more risqué orgies and group sing-alongs to pop favorites as the Wachowski siblings’ singular cult oddity commences its sophomore season.

2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m. on MTV
The MTV Movie Awards aren’t just for movies anymore; this year’s ceremony, hosted by Adam DeVine, adds TV nominees to the mix, including Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard in the ever-popular Best Kiss category, while Atlanta, Game of Thrones and Stranger Things compete for Show of the Year honors.
