Fiber artist Loretta Lynn's exhibit "Finding My Religion," integrating the Catholic rituals, iconographyand stories from her childhood with current practice of connecting with the natural world, will open in the Teer Gallery. Grand opening of Kentuck's Clay Studo, "Rescued" by Dayo Johnson in the Museum Gallery (artist talk at 6:30), scholar talk by Anne Franklin Lamar at 5:45 to introduced 2024 programming theme "Repurposed." At the Clay Studio, patrons can purchase two pounds of clay, for $20, to work with. Fred Shuttlesworth's daughters Patricia Shuttlesworth Massengil and Ruby Shuttlesworth Bester in conversation with T. Marie King, producer of the Emmy-nominated APT documentary, "Shuttlesworth," following a screening of the 56-minute film. The panel will be moderated by Ashley M. Jones, Alabama poet laureate and UAB Honors Program associate director.
