Tuscaloosa's summer Shakespeare group The Rude Mechanicals will perform "Twelfth Night," 8 p.m. Wednesday June 28 through Saturday July 1, in the Allen Bales Theatre, Rowand-Johnson Hall on the UA campus. Live pre-show music begins at 7:30 each night. The RMs formed in 2003, and includes a mix of town and gown actors, performers, designers and musicians.

JULY 20-23: Musical "Sister Act," performed by Theatre Tuscaloosa, directed by Stephen Tyler Davis, who has directed "Grease" and "Mamma Mia!" for Theatre Tuscaloosa in recent years. In "Sister Act," singer Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder by her gangster boyfriend, and goes via witness protection program into a Philadelphia convent. Her flamboyant personality causes friction among the community of more self-restrained nuns, but she finds her place helping transform the convent's struggling choir. The group's rising notoriety makes it much harder for the police to protect Deloris. Performances will be 7:30 p.m. July 20-22, with 2 p.m. matinees July 22-23, in the Bama Theatre.
