12th Annual Johnny Shines Blues Festival: 9 a.m.-9 p.m., McAbee Activity Center, 3801 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa. The Big Time Rhythm and Blues Band from Greenville, Mississippi, will be the highlighted guest for the event. Also performing will be Kent DuChaine, students from the Alabama Blues Project, Bougie Boogie Line Dancing and other entertainers. Proceeds will sponsor Johnny Shines Blues Scholarships to underprivileged children who want to learn to play musical instruments, particularly the guitar, Johnny Shines’ instrument of choice.
