Turnstile Throw Out the First Pitch at Baltimore Orioles Game: Watch

Turnstile have become the face of the Baltimore hardcore scene, and the band got to celebrate its city on Tuesday (August 8th) by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Orioles game.

Ahead of the O’s matchup against the Houston Astros, Turnstile took the mound, with guitarist Pat McCrory making the pitch to The Oriole Bird. In the words of the legendary Bob Uecker, McCrory’s toss was “just a bit outside,” bouncing out of the mascot’s reach in the left-handed batter’s box.

Wild pitch aside, the band looked like they had a ton of fun at Camden Yards, posing with The Oriole Bird and even filming a video segment with O’s field reporter Melanie Newman.

It was also a wholesome moment and some much-needed positive PR for the Orioles, who faced major backlash this past week from the sports broadcasting world.

The franchise suspended its television play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown for reading a harmless graphic about the team’s prior road struggles against the Tampa Bay Rays, somehow drawing enough ire from ownership to warrant punishment. During MLB broadcasts after the news broke, announcers for teams around the league stood up for Brown while harshly criticizing the Orioles’ decision.
