Turkey with a side of rain: Some thunderstorms expected on Thanksgiving Day

Meteorologists are expecting rain with some thunderstorms on Thanksgiving Day in southwest Louisiana, according to the National Weather Service's Wednesday afternoon update.

The area could see half an inch to 1 inch of rain Thursday with a moderate threat of scattered thunderstorms, and temperatures are forecast to be above normal — low: 56-63, high 68-76.

The rain will abate in time for Black Friday, which will be cool and dry. Temperatures could dip as low as the 30s Friday and Saturday. There is a chance of "patchy frost" Saturday, according to the forecast released Wednesday.

Sunday comes with its own small rain chances (less than one-tenth of an inch expected), but then next week will start back out at dry, according to NWS Lake Charles Warning Coordination Meteorologist Roger Erickson.
