Turkey Run State Park to host summer concert series

May 14—Turkey Run State Park will offer a summer concert series hosted by the Friends of Turkey Run and Shades.

"We've got eight dates lined up, with a wide range of talented musicians to entertain our park guests this summer," said Curt DeBaun, chair of the Friends group. "We're excited to fill the park with blankets and lawn chairs full of people sharing an evening of music."

The series schedule is:

* June 1 — The Coon Holler Kids

* June 15 — Larry Summerton

* June 28 — Bob Warn

* July 6 — Blue Flame

* July 27 — Stones Crossing

* Aug. 3 — High Sierra

* Aug. 17 — Jack Shannon

* Aug. 24 — Mackville Blue Grass

All of the concerts will start at 6 p.m. There will be no additional cost to attend the concerts besides the park entrance fee.

The Friends is a volunteer group that supports both Turkey Run and Shades; it will be selling campfire cuisine such as dogs, chips, drinks and Amish-made Whoopie Pies during the concerts.
