Tuesday, March 7, is GOP primary Election Day for the state House District 24 race

Tuesday, March 7, is Election Day in the Republican primary for the Florida House District 24 seat.

The seat is open after Republican Joe Harding resigned in December after being indicted on charges of wire fraud, money laundering and making false statements relating to COVID-19 funding.

The winner of the GOP primary will face write-in candidate Robert “Foxy” Fox in the May 16 general election. Only registered Republicans who live in District 24 are eligible to vote in the March 7 primary.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Any registered Republican voter who is unsure of their polling place, or unsure if they live in District 24, should visit www.votemarion.gov.

Mail ballots must be received in the Supervisor of Elections Office by 7 p.m. Tuesday.

There are 61,422 eligible voters in this primary. According to the elections office, 1,549 took advantage of early voting last week. As of 11 a.m. Monday, the elections office had received 3,925 mail ballots.
