Tucker Carlson's attempt to show President Biden's mental decline fails
Tucker Carlson pushed a favorite Fox News narrative on Tucker Carlson Tonight Thursday, while pretending to chide former President Donald Trump. Referencing a recent Politico article alleging that the Trump administration pressured the FDA to rush the COVID vaccines, Carlson appeared to blame the former president for perceived side effects, in this case, mental decline. This, of course, was Carlson’s opening to take shots at President Joe Biden.
“Look at that man. Donald Trump’s vaccine did that to him. Four shots, a human pin cushion, now a desiccated husk,” Carlson said after showing video of Biden announcing he’d tested positive for COVID. “Before he took Donald Trump’s vaccine, that man was spry, filled with vigor and vim, famous for his mental acuity. Look at him now.”
Carlson appeared to acknowledge that videos of even the smallest Biden gaffe is repeatedly played on Fox, so he cut to a live shot of Biden speaking at a rally in Maryland. But it didn’t go as Carlson expected. Biden didn’t make a gaffe. So Carlson asserted that the president said something that he did not say.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene controls Social Security? It doesn’t make sense,” Carlson said after the clip. “The compassionate person in you feels for that man because you know what happened to him. He took Donald Trump’s vaccine.”

- On Tucker Carlson Tonight, Thursday, Carlson pretended to blame former President Trump for perceived side effects of the COVID vaccines. This came in response to a Politico article highlighting how the Trump administration allegedly pressured the FDA to rush the vaccines. Carlson was actually still blaming Democrats for pushing them and was just trying to push the narrative that President Biden is in mental decline.
TUCKER CARLSON: That man was spry, filled with vigor, and vim, famous for his mental acuity. Look at him now. And in case you think, oh, maybe we're overstating the case, [? maybe ?] that's just a bad video, we're going to take you now to a live shot of that same man to give you some sense of the long term effects of Donald Trump's vaccine.
- Fox News personalities have seemed to revel in even the smallest Biden gaffe, but this time, on a live feed, it didn't go as Carlson expected.
JOE BIDEN: But it's not just Social Security, Senator Scott wants everything in the photo budget voted on de novo, every five years it goes out of existence, that includes Medicare, veterans benefits, and everything else.
- In the live shot, Carlson showed, Biden spoke about how some Republicans want to cut Social Security along with mentioning a handful of legislators, and the President didn't make a gaffe. So Carlson asserted that the President said something he did not say.
