Tucker Carlson says Biden did not seem senile at debate and it was a mistake to focus on his mental state

Tucker Carlson joined many of his colleagues in the media Wednesday night when he panned the chaotic first presidential debate the night before. Carlson agreed that it was out of control and not good for the country. But, while for so many the biggest story was that the president refused to condemn white supremacists, Carlson had a different takeaway. Carlson said that he and others in conservative media had made a mistake by spending so much time questioning Biden’s mental state, and admitted that Biden had answered questions more precisely than he’d expected.

TUCKER CARLSON: We want the nation our grandchildren inherit to be as stable and as happy as the country we grew up in but last night's debate gave us a little confidence that will happen. It was a painful, highly depressing 90 minutes. At times, things seemed out of control.

KYLIE MAR: On "Tucker Carlson Live" Wednesday, Carlson panned the chaotic presidential debate the night before, as many as his colleagues in the media had done immediately following the debate. And while some chose to focus on President Trump's refusal to condemn white supremacists, Carlson had a different takeaway, and lamented conservative media's focus on Joe Biden's mental state in the run up to the debate.

TUCKER CARLSON: The main thing we learned last night is that it was a mistake to spend so much time focusing on Joe Biden's mental decline. But on stage last night, Biden did not seem senile. If you tuned in expecting him to forget his own name-- and honestly, we did expect that-- you may have been surprised by how precise some of his answers were.

KYLIE MAR: Trump and Biden repeatedly traded barbs throughout the debacle. But Carlson said he doesn't believe these personal attacks will have any bearing on the election.

TUCKER CARLSON: Trump isn't going to win this race by calling Joe Biden senile. Nor, by the way, is Joe Biden going to win this race by calling Donald Trump a racist, as he repeatedly did last night. That slander didn't work four years ago, it will not work now.
