Tucker Carlson: “We Are Not Intimidated” By Ad Boycott Over “Dirtier” Immigration Segment

As more advertisers bail on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News Channel primetime programs in the wake of last Thursday’s monologue remarks about immigrants making America “dirtier,” Carlson punched back on Monday night’s edition of Tucker Carlson TOnight.

“A lot of people profiting from the policy don’t want the rest of us to think about it too much, they just want us to mouth the empty platitudes and move on. ‘Nothing to see here, shut up and go away.’ Those who won’t shut up get silenced. You’ve seen it a million times, it happens all the time. The enforcers scream ‘racist’ on Twitter, until everyone gets intimidated and changes the subject to the Russia investigation or some other distraction. It’s a tactic, a well worn one…and it won’t work with the show, we’re not intimidated. We plan to say what’s true until the last day.”

“The truth is unregulated mass immigration has badly hurt this country’s natural landscape,” Carlson continued. “Illegal immigration comes at a huge cost to our environment.”

“The left used to care about the environment,” Carlson scolded. “Not so long ago environmentalists opposed mass immigration; they knew what the costs were. They still know, but they don’t care. We do care and we’re going to continue talking about it.”

Calls for an advertiser boycott began after his Thursday program, Carlson had said immigrants are making America “dirtier” and “poorer” but that “our leaders demand that you shut up and accept” the caravan. He did not explain who he meant by “leaders.” President Donald Trump is opposed to immigration from the southern border and wants to build a wall to keep the immigrants out. Meanwhile, Trump’s Republicans control the Senate and, for a few more weeks, the House.

Whoever Carlson’s “leaders” are, he says they insist “We have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor, they tell us, even if it makes our own country poorer, and dirtier, and more divided. Immigration is a form of atonement.”

Meanwhile, Fox News is sticking with the statement it issued when the first advertiser pulled out:

“It is a shame that left wing advocacy groups, under the guise of being supposed ‘media watchdogs’ weaponize social media against companies in an effort to stifle free speech. We continue to stand by and work with our advertisers through these unfortunate and unnecessary distractions.”
