A question for all you philosophes out there, mumbling over your Gauloises and complaining because the barista is making you late for your job bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly: can you open a re-election campaign if the plain reality is that your first campaign never really ended?

El Caudillo del Mar-a-Lago threw another one of his endless strings of public wankfests on Tuesday night in Orlando. (And is there anything more Of The Political Moment than this particular president* having one of his speech-like episodes in the Amway Center?) Ostensibly, this was to kickoff his attempt to remain president* for another nightmarish exercise in malfeasance, nonfeasance, and impeachable offenses. However, outside of feeding democratic institutions to the wolverines, this president* hasn't done anything except hold these Riefenstahlian clown shows every couple of months, so it can be fairly said that his 2016 campaign never stopped-especially when, as was the case Tuesday night, he mentions Hillary Rodham Clinton more often than anyone he's likely to be running against this time around.

By one count, he mentioned her seven times in 30 minutes, including doing a pathetic imitation of HRC during one of their debates, while barely giving Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders a couple of drive-bys. The rest of the speech consisted of one more of the president*'s endless attempts to keep his Velveeta-brained gobshites on fire for him.

"We went through the greatest witch hunt in political history. The only collusion was committed by the Democrats, the fake news media, and their operatives, and the people who funded the phony dossier: Crooked Hillary Clinton and the DNC.”

“They tried to take away your dignity and your destiny. But we will never let them do that, will we? They tried to erase your vote, erase your legacy of the greatest campaign - probably the greatest election in the history of our country...They want to destroy you."

“They appointed 18 very angry Democrats to try to take down our incredible movement. After two years, 1.4 million pages of documents, 500 search warrants, 500 witnesses, 2,800 subpoenas and 40 FBI agents working round the clock, what did they come up with? No collusion, and the facts that led our great attorney general to determine no obstruction. No collusion, no obstruction. And they spent $40 million on this witch hunt, $40 million. That’s right. They spent $40 million - probably a hell of a lot more than that.”

Fact-checking is pointless by now. You might as well fact-check someone who's screaming about the Rothschilds in Washington Square. The man, frankly, is a whole banana plantation. Happy 2020!
