President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Sunday that he is moving his “Fake News Awards” from Monday to Wednesday, boasting that he will mark the approaching one-year anniversary of his inauguration by awarding the “most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media.”
“The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!” he tweeted.
The Fake News Awards, those going to the most corrupt & biased of the Mainstream Media, will be presented to the losers on Wednesday, January 17th, rather than this coming Monday. The interest in, and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated!

Certainly, many reporters and media outlets have drawn Trump’s ire for their reporting on his administration, from The Washington Post and the New York Times, who have led reporting on the ongoing investigation into Trump’s possible connections with Russia, to CNN’s Jake Tapper, who has held combative interviews with Trump’s staff, including a Sunday interview with White House adviser Stephen Miller.
But it’s the late night comedians who are making the most of Trump’s impromptu awards ceremony, with many of them expressing their hopes that the president picks them for recognition. Foremost among them is Stephen Colbert, who unveiled a billboard in Times Square as part of a tongue-in-cheek campaign with hopes of winning awards for “Best Chex Mixing,” “Least Breitbarty” and “Smallest Button.”

“Daily Show” host Trevor Noah and “Full Frontal” host Samantha Bee didn’t put up billboards in New York, but they posted their own For Your Consideration ads on Twitter, saying they hope to beat out Colbert at “The Fakies.” Noah filled his ad with pull quotes from conservative pundits that trashed him, while Bee posted crude YouTube comments attacking her.
