President Trump announced Friday that the Ross and Rachel of nuclear summits is back on. He's once again scheduled to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore on June 12th. Before the speaking with the press, the president had been presented with a comically enormous letter from Kim.

The fact that this president lies a lot is well-documented. That he lied in the course of his announcement of the nuclear talks would, sadly, be barely newsworthy. But this time, Trump didn't just lie to reporters-he lied to reporters and then fessed up a mere eight minutes later, which has to be a personal record.

"A letter was given to me by Kim Jong-un, and that letter was a very nice letter," Trump told the press. "Oh, would you like to see what was in that letter." When asked about the "flavor" of the missive, the president responded that it was a "very interesting letter."

Less than ten minutes later, after being asked if he'd responded to the note, Trump admitted that he "purposely didn’t open the letter" and joked that he "may be in for a big surprise."

The White House later confirmed that Trump did-eventually-read the letter.
