While a hometown museum and library is a tradition for former U.S. presidents, it appears Donald Trump might prefer an eponymous airport.
According to a report, President Trump has inquired with aides about having an airport named after him once he leaves office.
Sources told The Daily Beast that Trump has asked about the necessary "paperwork" required of having an airport named after "Donald J. Trump," and made it clear that he would only want his moniker on an airport that's in good shape.
As the Daily Beast noted, there are American airports named after at least eight U.S. presidents, including Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and John F. Kennedy.
The publication also cited sources who said Trump has mentioned having an aircraft carrier commissioned and named after him.
With the president reportedly planning a move to Florida once he leaves office, party officials in the Sunshine State say Palm Beach might make a prime location for a future Trump-named airport or presidential library.
“How many times has Air Force One flown in there?” Republican Party of Florida official Christian Ziegler said to The Sun Sentinel in a recent interview. “We should absolutely be looking at Florida for a presidential library. It would be a fantastic economic generator.”
The White House provided PEOPLE with no comment on whether Trump had inquired about having an airport bear his name.
A spokesperson for Palm Beach International Airport said they haven't yet had any inquiries about renaming the airport after the president, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The Daily Beast report indicated that Trump is at least privately mulling his plans for life after the presidency, despite publicly continuing to contest the results of an election he lost to Democrat Joe Biden.
Trump has not publicly said where he and his family will settle after leaving Washington, D.C., but his post-presidential life will almost assuredly include time spent in Palm Beach, home to his members-only club, Mar-a-Lago.
It's unclear where in Palm Beach the Trumps might settle, though construction is currently underway on his on-site apartment at the private club.
Palm Beach residents have raised alarm over the family's rumored attempts to move to the property, citing a 1993 agreement signed by Trump and stipulating that no one could stay at the Mar-a-Lago resort for longer than seven days at a time.
Sources previously told PEOPLE that First Lady Melania Trump has been checking out schools for their son Barron, 14, in anticipation of the relocation.
The president and first lady switched their permanent residences from New York City to Florida last year in a "declaration of domicile," designating the Mar-a-Lago club as their place of primary residence.
First daughter Ivanka Trump also looks to be putting down roots in South Florida, recently purchasing a secluded, multimillion-dollar undeveloped lot outside Miami Beach.

With less than four weeks remaining in his term before he leaves office, the president has been spending the holidays in Palm Beach, where he announced a host of controversial pardons and signed a COVID-19 relief bill after days of unnecessary delays.
While he hasn't said if he'll be in attendance at Biden's Jan. 20 inauguration ceremony, Trump is said to be contemplating hosting a competing event — a rally to announce a 2024 run — in Florida.
