True Detective: Night Country, the next installment in the anthology crime series, has received a premiere date of Sunday, January 14th at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and Max.
As an added bonus, there’s also a new teaser trailer offering a preview into Detectives Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro’s (Kali Reis) investigation into the mysterious disappearance of eight men from an Alaskan research station. Watch the clip below.
“When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace,” reads the official logline. “To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”
The cast is rounded out by Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes, with guest stars Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, June Thiele, Diane Benson, and Joel D. Montgrand.
Issa López served as showrunner, writer, and director on all six episodes of Night Country after True Detective creator and showrunner Nic Pizzolatto exited the series following Season 3. López and Foster also executive produced the series, with Pizzolatto, Mari Jo Winkler, and original True Detective stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson maintaining executive production roles.
Season 3 of True Detective, starring Mahershala Ali as Arkansas detective Wayne Hays, premiered way back in 2019.
