OK, so there’s no Colin Farrell or Rachel McAdams to be found here — or any people, for that matter. But dig deeper, and a couple of clues about Season 2’s plot start to emerge.

We see a lone, flickering light (a fire? An explosion?) underneath a sky of swirling clouds and a looming freeway overpass — a confirmation, perhaps, that the story involves a conspiracy of corruption surrounding L.A.’s transportation infrastructure. (If that sounds boring, don’t worry; there’s a murder, too.) And that tagline, “We get the world we deserve,” seems to promise we’ll get much of the same grim, fatalistic worldview that Rust Cohle brought to the interrogation room last season.

Are we looking at a crime scene? Or just an ominous mood-setter? Only a few more weeks until we find out for real.

True Detective Season 2 premieres Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
