'True Detective' casts Mamie Gummer

Good Wife alum Mamie Gummer is heading to the Ozarks.

The actress has been cast in the upcoming third season of HBO’s anthology drama True Detective, per THR.com. She’ll play Lucy Purcell, a mother of two children who finds herself involved in a crime.

Season 3 takes place in the Ozark Mountains and centers on a terrible crime as well as a mystery that plays out in three time periods. Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) will star as Arkansas state police detective Wayne Hays alongside Carmen Ejogo (Zero Hour), Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire) and Stephen Dorff (Star), among others.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will write and direct the upcoming season, which doesn’t yet have a premiere date. Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier will helm episodes as well.

In addition to The Good Wife, Gummer’s TV resumé includes roles on Manhattan, Emily Owens M.D. and Off the Map. Her True DetectiveMeryl Streep, will be part of Big Little Lies casting follows the recent news that her mother, ‘ second season, also on HBO.
