Troy native Steven Jones Jr. took home $6.5 million after claiming second place Monday in the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event.
The 2023 WSOP had its largest ever Main Event in Las Vegas this year. Despite an unprecedented 10,043 participants, Jones managed to secure a spot among the final three players.
Jones, 35, attended Birmingham Seaholm High School and is currently a real estate broker in Arizona.
Before reaching the final table of the WSOP Main Event in 2023, Jones had earned a significant amount from previous live tournament cashes, according to WSOP. His largest payout was $57,425 for finishing in ninth place during a 2018 no-limit hold' em event. Additionally, he achieved a notable eighth-place finish in the 2021 Tag Team event, alongside his partner Zachary Erdwurm.
