Trisha Yearwood Reveals How Her And Garth Brooks Maintain A Happy Marriage

Country superstars Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks have been married for nearly 15 years, and she recently opened up to "Good Morning America about how they continue to make their relationship work.

"You have to make it a conscious effort to make sure that you put each other first, and we do that, and sometimes it's not easy," Yearwood said. "We have to compromise, and that's really what it's about. We're friends at the end of the day, and we enjoy each other's company and like being together."

Last month, Brooks was awarded Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards and Yearwood showed her love and admiration for him in an Instagram post.

"Entertainer of the year and husband of a lifetime! I [love] you and what you have done for country music!" she wrote alongside a photo of the two with his trophy.

Elsewhere in the "Good Morning America" interview, Yearwood revealed their holiday plans and traditions. She said that Thanksgiving is crazy for them as they host at their house with tons of guests.

But for Christmas, the two travel to visit family. "I have family in Georgia, and we have family in Oklahoma -- so it's kind of a progressive Christmas where we go to everybody and see everybody," Yearwood said. "It's a lot more quiet."

They do enjoy one important tradition with their three daughters before hitting the road.

"The only thing we really do as a family that we have to do is ... we decorate the tree together," Yearwood said. "Now that they're grown and living in different places, we still make it that the tree doesn't get decorated until we're together. So, it might go up and be bare for a week or two until we can get everybody together, and we'll make sure to do that."

Yearwood said they also do a Christmas cookie-making party every year. "We have a Christmas cookie party where all my friends come over and bring their recipe for Christmas cookies or dessert that their whole family has made," she said. "That's one of my favorite memories of Christmas -- just sharing those."
