The YouTuber, who is known for her personal vlogs, has been involved in several controversies over the years, including public feuds with David Dobrik, Ethan Klein, Shawn Dawson and Charlie D'Amelio.

In 2019, Paytas posted a video to her YouTube account titled "I AM TRANSGENDER (FEMALE TO MALE)." in which she said she was a gay man who liked to dress in drag. At the time, the video received a lot of criticism from viewers in the comments and on social media, who said that Paytas was making fun of LGBTQ issues. The videos are now deleted.

However, the expectant mom has said she was not kidding, later inviting her fans to ask her questions on Instagram.

In 2020, Paytas claimed that she had dissociative identity disorder (DID) and said she had multiple different personalities called T, Trixie, Tyson, Tierney and Tobolter.

That year in September, Paytas began a podcast with fellow YouTuber Ethan Klein, whom she met her husband Harmon through (Klein is Hacmon's brother-in-law). The podcast, titled Frenemies, aimed to settle a feud between Klein and Paytas, discussing different topics each episode.

The podcast was well-received by fans, but fell apart after nine months due to a fight between the co-hosts. Paytas and Hacmon's relationship was often discussed on the podcast, and although the two now don't speak to Klein or his wife Hila, they got married in 2021.

In April of 2021, Paytas said she now considers herself non-binary, and later revealed that she uses all pronouns.

She welcomed her first baby with her husband in November 2022.
