Triple 7 movie debuts at Tampa Theatre, filmed by locals

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — From the Tampa Bay area to the big screen, two Tampa natives, Dan Myrick and Kristian Krempel created Triple 7.

The film shows a journey of 168 hours of skydiving led by a team of former special operators and veterans.

“I wanted to tell the stories of these guy,” Myrick said. “I mean, you know, Hollywood sort of portrays them in these stereotypes, and I just wanted to bring more of a storytelling element to the show and get into the into the workings of how these guys think.”

The documentary shows the group breaking multiple records while skydiving around the world.

“Immediately, I had a long list of reasons that made it impossible. But clearly that wasn’t the case,” Krempel said.

The movie looks to honor fallen heroes while raising money for scholarships given to military families.

“We’re excited to show the veterans as we know it, not Hollywood,” said Mike Sarraille, a Triple 7 team member. “You know, these veterans that we serve with, these warriors, they’re kind, respectful, they’re empathetic. They’re highly professional.”

Nathan English, whose dad made the ultimate sacrifice after serving tours in Iraq, is a Folds of Honor scholarship recipient.

“I am thankful people care so much about my dad’s sacrifice, and they’re able to give back. It’s an honor to be able to carry around my dad’s legacy,” English said.
