Is this the easiest way to make sushi?
POPPY SHEN: This might be the easiest way to cook sushi at home. Originated in Hawaii, sushi bake is basically deconstructed sushi. It has all your favorite sushi ingredients, but it's so much easier to make. But is it really a good idea to turn sushi into a casserole? And can this really beat the restaurant sushi? Let's find out.
First, cook 2 cups of sushi rice. Layer the rice into a casserole and sprinkle with furikake. For toppings, I am using sushi-grade tuna and imitation crab. You want to chop the tuna into little cubes and marinate it with soy sauce, mirin, and a little bit of sugar. Then, let's also chop the crab meat and marinate it with Kewpie mayo and sriracha.
Spread the topping on top of the sushi. Top the casserole with more Kewpie mayo and eel sauce. Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes. On the side, I'm also preparing some sliced avocados and cucumbers. So it has been 15 minutes. It felt so long. Sushi facial. Oh, it looks so good, and it smells so good. Can't wait to try it.
Oh, my God. This is so good. This is probably the best thing I've ever tried from TikTok. I love the smell, I love the texture, I love the taste. It tastes like sushi. It's basically, like, a sushi, but a warm, baked sushi roll.
Now, in terms of convenience, I'm also really happy about how easy everything was. All I had to do was chop the fish, the crabs, and put everything together, and pop it in the oven. 15 minutes later, this thing came out. You can even substitute the raw tuna with canned tuna, which makes everything even easier.
The only difficult thing about this recipe is getting the ingredients, the TikTok-famous Kewpie mayo and the furikake rice seasoning. So if you're able to find these ingredients, I would say, this is such an easy and fun recipe. And I give it 10 out of 10. Mmm, this is so good.
