When is trick or treat in your community this year? Here's what we know.

SOMERSET ― Get the costumes ready and the decorations out, because Halloween is only three weeks away!

Across Somerset County, local organizations and municipalities have set the dates for Halloween events and trick-or-treat night. Here’s a list of events compiled by the Daily American to date. To share an event that’s not included here, send the information to news@dailyamerican.com and we will add the event to the online listing at the Daily American website.

Treats on the Trail

Somerset’s annual scarecrow festival and Halloween parade are being combined into a new event this year, called “Treats on the Trail.”

The free, family-friendly event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Somerset Lake Nature Trail’s main/south boat launch on Wood Duck Road. Guests are invited to come dressed in costume, and a variety of activities are planned, including hayrides, the scarecrow festival, vendors and entertainment, kids’ games and activities, food and a trail walk.

The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Somerset, Somerset Lake Nature Park trail development project and the Somerset Trust Co. Visit the Kiwanis Club’s Facebook page for more information.

Halloween at the Station

The Meyersdale Area Historical Society is hosting its third annual “Halloween at the Station” event from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Western Maryland Railway Station Visitors’ Center and Museum, located at the top of Main St. In Meyersdale.

Visitors are welcome to stop by and explore the station, pick up some Halloween treats and see the society’s staff and volunteers dressed in a “Groovy '70s” theme. More information is available on the society’s Facebook page.

Health Fair

Area children, youth and families are invited to a "Trick or Treat Yourself to Wellness" health and social services fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Johnstown Galleria, lower level. About 30 organizations are to attend and offer information about various health and social services available for physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and occupational wellness. Entertainment all day, including martial arts, cheerleading and ballet. Vendors and some shops in the mall plan to hand out candy or other treats to children. Costumes are optional.

Trunk or Treat and other events

Beachdale Church of the Brethren, Berlin: 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 28 at the church, 803 Owl Hollow Road.

Cornerstone Church, Boynton: 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the church, 8978 Mason Dixon Highway.

"Pumpkin Patch," from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Salisbury-Elk Lick High School gym. Free event geared to children through fifth grade, sponsored by the Oak Dale Church Youth. Kids' games, candy and refreshments are planned.

Shanksville Community Grove, 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 27. Trunk or treat, pumpkin ring toss, kids' crafts, a costume contest, treats and more. Sponsored by Shanksville Volunteer Fire Company and the Stoystown United Church of Christ.

Trunk or Treat at the International Conservation Center, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28. Free, family-friendly activities include Best Elephant Costume contest, elephant themed fun and games, trunk or treat for candy and meet Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium ambassador animals. Wagon rides and pumpkin painting available at additional cost. The ICC is located at 1487 Glen Savage Road, Fairhope.

Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Trunk or Treat, 12 to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the loop outside of Blackington Hall (across the street from the Richland High School football field). Bounce houses, games, face painting, hot chocolate and treats given out by Pitt-Johnstown athletes and student organizations.

Penn Highlands Community College is hosting its annual Community Trick or Treat event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Richland campus. The event is geared to children age 12 and under; planned activities include a haunted house in the auditorium, a craft station in the Black Bear Cafe´ and trick-or-treating around the C-level area. Visitors should park and enter the Richland campus at the East Hills Recreation entrance. Pets are not permitted on campus. Fall adventures: Here are some ways to enjoy the colors of fall in and around Somerset County

Trick or Treat schedules

Addison Borough: Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Berlin Borough: Oct. 26, from 6-8 p.m. A parade starts at 6 p.m. at the upper diamond on Main Street. Costume judging and treat bags to be given out at the Berlin VFW. Trick or treat continues around the borough until 8 p.m. Event sponsored by the Berlin VFW and the American Legion.

Boswell Borough: Oct. 31, from 6 to 7 p.m., with parade to follow.

Central City Borough: Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Conemaugh Township: Oct. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Confluence Borough: Oct. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Begts Memorial Park.

Garrett Borough: Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. at the fire hall. Rain date is 6 p.m. Oct. 27.

Hooversville Borough: Oct. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. A Halloween party is being held at 1 p.m. at the Community Building, followed by trick or treating from 2 until 4 p.m. Residents are asked to turn on their porch lights if they plan to participate.

Jenner Township: Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Jennerstown Borough: Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Meyersdale Borough: Oct. 28, activities start with a trunk or treat at 2 p.m. at the high school. The parade begins at 3 p.m., participants are to line up by 2:30 p.m. at the old State Theatre on Broadway Street. Trick or treat takes place after the parade, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Event is organized by the Meyersdale Parks & Recreation Committee.

Paint Borough: Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Paint Township: Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rockwood Borough: Oct. 28, parade starts at 1 p.m. at the car wash, with trick-or-treat in the community following the parade.

Salisbury Borough: Oct. 27, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. For students of Salisbury-Elk Lick School District, their siblings and borough residents.

Shanksville Borough: Oct. 27, event starts at 6 p.m. with trunk or treat at the Shanksville Community Grove, then trick or treat is held in the community. Residents are asked to turn on their porch lights if they plan to participate.

Wellersburg Borough: Oct. 31, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., starting at the Wellersburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Windber Borough: Halloween parade takes place at 11 a.m. Oct. 28; lineup starts at the Windber Fire Department on Somerset Ave. Trick or treat is on Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
