Tribute acts, Jimmie Allen will keep beach stages rocking right into September

Labor Day is in the rearview mirror, but the action is just heating up at area music venues. ’Tis the shoulder season, and among the attractions designed to lure weekend warriors back to the beach are tribute acts — lots of them.

In Dewey Beach, the seasonal Bottle & Cork nightclub has four weekends left. Top 40 cover band So Fetch will bring its “All The Best Music of the 2000s” revue to the stage at 9 p.m.Friday, Sept. 8 ($15).

Other upcoming Cork events include Gimme Gimme Disco on Friday, Sept. 15 ($20); Saved By The 90s on Friday, Sept. 22 ($20); and two sold-out nights featuring homegrown country star Jimmie Allen on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 28-29.

In Selbyville, the outdoor Freeman Arts Pavilion will close out its 16th season this weekend, and what a season it has been. Concerts that were sold out in advance included those by Brandi Carlile, Styx, Darius Rucker and more.

Elsewhere in Sussex County, the Milton Theatre will welcome hundreds of patrons in the coming days, judging by strong advance tickets sales. Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute will rock the house at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 ($36).

The popularity of 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience is such that it has three shows in two days. It will play a matinee at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9; an evening show that night at 8 p.m.; and then another matinee at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10 (tickets are $36 for each show).

Also in Ocean City, the 48th annual Sunfest event is set for next month, and will run Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 19-22. There will be continuous live music each day, including many tribute acts (but of course).

However, organizers announced that a national rock act will play a special afternoon set. The Spin Doctors are certain to play their hit singles “Two Princes” and “Pocket Full of Kryptonite” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 — and as with the rest of the festival, admission is absolutely free.
