Throughout the entire Tribeca Festival, fans will be able to visit a career-spanning exhibit and immersive installation titled De Niro Is an Icon, which will include more than 300 curated items from De Niro’s personal archive, including rare photos, annotated scripts, costumes, research materials and storyboards. The exhibit will also debut the short film De Niro, New York.

And “De Niro Con” will include film-inspired activations such as Max Cady’s prison tattoo parlor from Cape Fear, where fans can get real or temporary tattoos; Travis Bickle’s bedroom from Taxi Driver; and the Meet the Parents polygraph test. There will also be a trivia night and hero sandwich competition for fans.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 80 years of Robert De Niro, my dear friend and co-conspirator for the past 35 years, than by throwing a big bash for his fellow New Yorkers,” said Tribeca co-founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal. “From conversations with legends like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and David O. Russell to fan experiences, it is going to be a truly historic weekend as we pay tribute to a great talent.”

Billy Crystal added, “Robert De Niro is an acting icon. He is one of my closest friends and working with him was one of the great experiences of my career. I’m really excited to honor him and his fantastic career this June.”

More information about “De Niro Con” is available here. The 2024 Tribeca Festival is set to run from June 5-16 in New York.

The fan event, originally designed to coincide with De Niro’s 80th birthday on Aug. 17, 2023, was first announced at the 2023 Tribeca Festival, during a star-studded private ceremony at the Tribeca Grill, and set to take place from Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2023. But it was postponed until April 2024 amid the writers and actors strikes last year. Earlier this year, “De Niro Con” was delayed further to coincide with the 2024 Tribeca Festival.
