Tribeca Film Festival Sets Alejandro Iñárritu & Barbra Streisand For Tribeca Talks; Kathryn Bigelow’s VR Doc To Debut
Tribeca Film Festival has attached Oscar winners Barbra Streisand and Alejandro González Iñárritu to lead Tribeca Talks conversations at the 16th annual fest. Streisand will take part in the Storytellers series that features pioneering creators who work across mediums to tell their stories, and Iñárritu will be one of the headline conversations in the Directors Series.
Also announced is the world premiere of The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow and VR creator Imraan Ismail’s virtual reality documentary short The Protectors: Walk In The Ranger’s Shoes which chronicles a day in the life of a ranger in Garamba National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The rangers are often the last line of defense in a race against extinction at the hands of poachers slaughtering elephants for their ivory tusks. The short will be released next year by National Geographic, Here Be Dragons and Annapurna Pictures.
The 2017 Tribeca Film Festival will run from April 19 – 30.
