Trey Songz is attempting to get a $10 million sexual assault lawsuit against him thrown out. According to Radar Online, the singer and his legal team argued that the case is past its statute of limitations of three years. As of Friday (Sept. 8), the judge overseeing the case has yet to decide on Trey’s motion to dismiss the suit.

In June 2023, a Jane Doe stepped forward with her suit, accusing the singer, né Tremaine Neverson, of groping and exposing her breasts in 2013. The incident allegedly occurred at Foxwood’s Resort Casino in Connecticut.

The woman reportedly met Neverson at a Foxwoods Resort Casino event. She said she “thought it might be fun to politely take a picture” with the singer in the background. However, as she took the picture, she alleged that the crooner approached her from behind and “ripped back her bathing suit top, grabbed her breasts, and exposed them.”

Following the incident, the unnamed woman “nervously” laughed off the assault to “mask her shock and humiliation.” She then claimed that Songz mockingly chanted, “Titty in the open… titty in the open,” a claim corroborated via a video obtained by TMZ.

She also named Kevin Liles and Atlantic Records in her suit for their alleged “lack of supervision” and “disregard for the safety of those who attend [Trey’s] events.”

In February 2023, another woman came forward with her own lawsuit and included Liles and Songz’s record label. Her $25 million lawsuit alleged that he raped her at a March 2016 party, according to Rolling Stone.

Doe’s attorney, George Vrabeck, released a statement calling out the defendants for “turning a blind eye” to her assault. Vrabeck also spoke to the number of sexual assault allegations against the musician.

“This case is much more than about one singer and one viciously abused sexual assault survivor who has the courage to take action,” the attorney said. “It’s also very much about the systematic sexual abuse in the music industry and the music industry’s complicity in silencing sexual abuse survivors. It’s virtually impossible to believe that those executives are not and were not aware of the institutionalized sexual abuse.”
