Leave it to Rihanna to bring a quirky trend back to life.
It's been a few seasons since fashion mags were all about the skirt-over-shirt look, but the "Work" singer made it seem brand new when she rocked the combo in New York City on Tuesday.
RiRi slipped a frayed denim skirt over a white pinstripe shirtdress, completing the look with a fabulous pair of royal blue velvet socks and matching patent heels, plus a chain necklace, gold watch, and Louis Vuitton purse.
As cool as the ensemble looked from the front, the back was even more unique. The light-wash skirt featured shadows of the back pockets and brand label, plus an extra patch of denim for good measure.
The 28-year-old pop star even kept the same long curls that she sported over the weekend, when she surprised fans by dueting with Paul McCartney on their hit, "FourFiveSeconds," during the Desert Trip Festival.
Rihanna has always been a fan of taking fashion risks -- and almost always pulls them off when few others can. Seriously, how many people could look so fabulous wearing their own face (circa her elementary school days, no less!) on a T-shirt or a fur fanny pack?
Her fiercest look, though? The cherry red heart-shaped coat she wore after partying at 1Oak nightclub with her pal, Melissa Forde, last month. Check out the massive statement piece in the video below.
