Tree lighting Sunday in Ida

IDA — Ida’s annual Christmas tree lighting will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 26 at Ida Township Park. New photo opportunities will be offered this year. Local residents are again invited to make ornaments for the tree.

The tree lighting will kick off the 42st annual Christmas in Ida Festival, which runs Dec. 1-2 in Ida.

Families, businesses, community organizations, clubs and school groups are invited to special ornaments for the tree. During the tree lighting, the ornaments will be hung by those who made them. Ornaments should be at least 6 inches, but no larger than 10 inches in diameter. Ornaments can be any shape and must have a way to hang on the tree. Hanging ornaments should be able to withstand outdoor weather. Creators’ names should be on the ornament for recognition. Ornaments made in prior years will be rehung on the tree.

New this year will be “an aesthetically pleasing photo opportunity area near the tree where family photographs can be taken,” said Dale Zorn, Christmas in Ida executive director. “This festive addition was created by Hannah and Blair Tuller. LeeAnn Harbaum, winner of the 2022 Holiday Art on the Avenue art show, designed and painted the new Christmas décor.”
