Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner is known for his speed on the field and record-setting plays, but his wife Kristen Turner (née Harabedian) boasts plenty of athletic achievements of her own.

Trea met Kristen when they both attended North Carolina State University. He played on the baseball team after delaying his entry into the major league to go to college while she was an accomplished gymnast. A New Jersey native, Kristen already had an impressive high school gymnastics career when she was accepted to NC State with a full scholarship.

The couple dated for six years before getting married in Washington, D.C., in 2018, and a few years later, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Beckham Dash Turner, in 2021. Trea and Kristen recently announced another addition to the family, a son named Tatum Trea Turner, born in September 2023.

Amid the exciting family milestones, Kristen hasn't missed a chance to celebrate his success and support the fan-favorite MLB player at his games alongside their children.

So, who is Trea Turner’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Kristen Turner and her relationship with the professional baseball player.

Trea and Kristen are college sweethearts who crossed paths while studying at NC State in Raleigh, North Carolina. He majored in chemical engineering and she had an interest in finance. The undergraduate students juggled their classes with their respective sports commitments and both were all-star athletes.

In 2023, Trea and Kristen pledged $1 million to NC State Athletics, "the largest gift from a former NC State student-athlete who is currently playing professionally."

Their gift was given to benefit both the baseball and gymnastics programs, as it will help create a “state-of-the-art indoor hitting facility for current and future NC State baseball players” and also support various needs of the NC State gymnastics program.

"We couldn't have enjoyed our time at NC State more and are very proud to say we are Wolfpack Alumni," Trea told GoPack.com. "Kristen and I are humbled and honored to be able to give back and make a difference for the University."

She’s a former gymnast

Trea isn’t the only record-setting athlete in the family. Kristen’s career as a student gymnast saw her winning awards and gaining recognition across different competitions.

Before she went to college and met Trea, she was setting records at her high school and getting covered in Sports Illustrated.

As a senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High in Flemington, New Jersey, she won in three different categories at a state meet, securing the all-around title and leading her high school team, the Red Devils, to a second-place finish.

Sports Illustrated also noted that she was named New Jersey gymnast of the year and was selected all-state for the fourth time in 2010.

Writing about Kristen at the end of her high school and college careers, NJ.com noted that she was the only athlete to be named First Team All-State for all four years at Hunterdon Central Regional High and that she had won the Parker Agency Outstanding Athlete Award in 2009 and 2010.

As a member of the Wolfpack at NC State, Kristen continued to achieve records, making the East Atlantic Gymnastics League team (EAGL) twice, competing for the uneven bars, beam and the floor.

"Every member on the team is a highly recruited gymnast, so I was very lucky to get right in the lineup and compete for 4 years. I have many highlights, but getting my first score of 9.9 and performing at the NCAA championships at Ohio State and Georgia will always stand out for me,” Kristen told NJ.com about her experience on the NC State gymnastics team.

Trea popped the question to Kristen on June 27, 2017, despite her unconscious efforts to thwart his plans.

“She tried her hardest to screw up my plan for the night but I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life with anyone else! Love you to the moon and back! 💍,” Trea wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him and Kristen hugging.

She posted the same photo of herself and her new fiancé, showing off her ring.

“WE ARE ENGAGED!!! Beyond thankful you came into my life five years ago and now I get to spend the rest of my life with you! I couldn't ask for a better future husband and partner in life, I can't wait to marry you,” she captioned her announcement on Instagram.

Trea’s sister Teal took engagement photos for the happy couple, which Kristen shared in November 2017, writing, “Still dreaming about the day you asked me to marry you. Love you more and more every day 💋.”

On Nov. 10, 2018, Trea and Kristen tied the knot in a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., followed by a unique reception at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

The groom wore a custom navy blue suit from STITCHED, featuring their engagement photos printed inside. Trea paired the outfit with a matching tie and a white rose boutonniere.

Meanwhile, the bride chose a classic lace and silk gown from Pronovias, accessorized with sparkling gold Jimmy Choo pumps. Kristen also carried a bouquet of garden roses, ranunculus and eucalyptus down the aisle.

“We didn’t have a first look before the ceremony,” she told BRIDES. “The moment when I walked down the aisle with my dad and saw Trea for the first time is one I’ll always remember!”

On Feb. 9, 2021, Trea and Kristen welcomed their son, Beckham Dash Turner.

At the time, Trea was playing for the Washington Nationals. A few days after announcing his son’s birth, Turner admitted to reporters that Nationals bench coach Tim Bogar gave him the idea for Beckham’s middle name.

Trea said they knew they wanted to name their son Beckham, but he and Kristen hadn’t decided yet on a middle name when Bogar told him, “You gotta name your kid something fast.”

“He goes, ‘You know Dash from The Incredibles? That’s what you should name him.’ I was like, ‘Well, I’m not going to name my kid first name Dash,’ ” Trea said, per DC Sports King.

“But then we started thinking about it and as a middle name we thought it was pretty cool and it kind of flowed really well — or at least we thought so. And we went with it and we like it.”

On Trea’s first Father’s Day in 2021, Kristen celebrated him with a sweet Instagram post.

“I always knew you would be an amazing dad but watching you with Beckham melts my heart,” she captioned a picture of Trea kissing Beckham’s forehead. “He is so lucky to call you daddy!"

They welcomed a second son

On Sept. 7, 2023, Trea and Kristen's son, Tatum Trea Turner, was born.

"Tatum Trea 🤎 Our newest addition, we couldn’t be more obsessed with you! Welcome to the family little buddy," she captioned photos of the newborn in a joint Instagram post with Trea.

Earlier in the year, she had dropped several hints about their second baby. In May, she wrote on Instagram she had “celebrated Mother’s Day early," and the next month, she revealed that another son was on the way.

“Our boys are beyond lucky to call you daddy,” Kristen shared on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos of Trea with Beckham and family photos showcasing her pregnant belly.

Kristen has been a huge supporter of her husband’s career since college, moving around the country with him as he changed teams, from the Washington Nationals to the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Philadelphia Phillies, and attended training camps in Florida.

She also involves Beckham, even dressing him in a Philadelphia 76ers basketball jersey to celebrate the family’s move to Philly. Kristen and Beckham attended the Phillies’ family day in August 2023, wearing matching Phillies jerseys with the Turner name on the back.

“Love any chance to celebrate you 🤩,” she captioned a photo of herself with Trea and his parents standing behind a 2022 National League Louisville Silver Slugger Award and All MLB 2022 trophy for being the starting shortstop on the First Team for the USA.
